Presentation ceremony for the 2023-2024 Economic Report Yearbook

On Tuesday 21 November 2023, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Brazzaville, the Investment Promotion Agency (API) officially presented the second edition of the YEARBOOK economic report 2023-2024.

The ceremony to present the document was presided over by the Minister for Industrial Development and the Promotion of the Private Sector, and was attended by several members of the government, economic advisers from embassies, representatives of international institutions and the United Nations system, employers' unions and public and private administrations.

The presentation of the YEARBOOK economic report 2023-2024 was made by Annick Patricia Mongo, Director General of API.

In her presentation, she emphasised that this 205-page document is a mine of information, entirely dedicated to promoting the image and economic potential of the Congo, and contains technical and economic information on the legal and regulatory framework for investment, as well as on growth sectors such as agriculture in the broadest sense, industry, special economic zones (ZES), tourism, the digital economy, real estate, the forestry economy, basic infrastructure, energy, transport, hydrocarbons, mining, biodiversity, and so on.

It also took stock of the stock of inward foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Congo over the period 2018 to 2023. Over this period, the stock of inward FDI amounts to 3020 million Euros, or 1981 billion CFA francs, for a total of 10 projects, mainly in the oil and gas, transport and logistics, renewable energy and communications sectors.

In addition, the representative of Plateforme Industrielle du Congo (PIC), a company that manages three (03) special economic zones (Pointe-Noire/Oyo-Ollombo/ Ouesso), gave a presentation on the progress of the Pointe-Noire SEZ.

There was also a focus on a number of local private companies and banks, followed by discussions. The companies in question were : AGER Aliment (cattle feed manufacturing company), HONGORA GROUP (textile industry), Banque Commerciale Internationale- BCI (a local commercial bank) and NSIA (an insurance company), which presented their products and services respectively.
